Lionel Messi looks like he's had enough with Argentina – Craig Burley | Copa America

ESPN FC’s Craig Burley, Alejandro Moreno, Shaka Hislop, Julien Laurens and Dan Thomas discuss the pressure Lionel Messi deals with on the Argentina national team and how it affects him. Following Argentina’s 2-0 loss vs. Colombia in their opening match of the 2019 Copa America, Burley says Messi’s frustration with the national team has boiled over, and it’s starting to show on the pitch. Hislop agrees, saying the Barcelona star looks even more frustrated now than before his short-lived retirement from international play following the 2016 Copa America.

  1. Craig comparing Argentina with Portugal (this nations league champion) is just laughing ridiculous! My God so much bias against Ronaldo and Portugal….

  2. Moreno and Craig you better go and lick messis balls< these mothefuckers doesnt give fair credit to Argentina Team, they can only find Excuse for messi!!!!

  3. Messi has become arrogant and passive agressive. He isn't winning, even around expensive af world class players, and look at how miserable he looks. Poor lad.

  4. did ronaldo ronaldo reach a world cup final? 2014 germany got lucky, we were the better team. It happens. Nobody is playing good this cup come on, brasil looked horrible and portugal won that time looking horribly also. It didn't happen but he's been there at one lucky play of distance . People ask for way too much, he is one person in a 22 people match. He can't single handly win a match when he doesn't have the team, and when he did he was very very close.

  5. Perhaps you Football pundits make Messi better than He is ? Can He defend ? Can He lead a team ? Can He fight ? Yes he can attack like the greatest players of all time

  6. Where are these loosers now? All they do is talk $hit… Argentina still in the competition, with Colombia & Uruguay out… Argentina putting in a team effort to get this far. Messi just needs to adjust from being required to do EVERYTHING to now being part of a team. It's becoming apparent these mooks don't know a thing about football and are massive fanboys of other players.

  7. Messi is actually quite a good player for Argentina. He is just unlucky.Messi and Argentina have reached 4 international finals. He is all time top goal scorer for Argentina. He cant affect Argentina defence or players like Higuain master of misses. He plays equally good for Argentina as he does for Barcelona.Football is a team sport and no matter how talented you are, if your team fails to provide you adequate support, you will fail.

  8. He played awesome with Requileme and Tevez, then the stupid federation and he decided I don’t need them or players like them. I’m 10, I’m center forward, I’m CAM, I’m the captain, build the team around me, I’m a winger also. 2014 squad wins with Tevez instead of Palacios. Simple.

  9. Argentina has lost the hunger they once had because federation never evolved so young players play their hearts out like Hindus applying for H1B visas to go play in Europe.

  10. These bunch of highly paid ex-soccer players, of which none was ever recognised jas "Great Player", must have had a pint or two before adjoining to the broadcasting room. They demonize Messi who has been name the GOAT, aka GREATEST OF ALL TIME, as if at one time they were at par or greater than the likes of Ronaldo Phenomeno, Ronaldinho Gaucho, Maradona, Paolo Rossi, George Best and others of the same calibers. I have to google Ale Moreno, Craig Burley, Steve Nicol because there was no recollection of any sort associated with these names but yet they spoke as if players like Messi, Aguero, Neymar Jr., Coutinho are hopelessly high paid players that should have done a lot and a lot and lot better. Well if ESPN is paying these idiots to entertain the crowd at the sports bars and clubs who drink to their wits, why don't ESPN get them to eo the pole dance while they at it.

  11. messi had tevez di maria aguero lavezzi higuain palacio milito zabaleta banega mascherano romero dybala icardi ! 4 differents managers since 2007 ! 4 tournaments finals reached ! but never showed up when argentina needed him ! yeah he scored vs nigeria and iran and usa but vs france, germany, chile 2X, netherlands he never came ! well maybe maybe he need iniesta xavi neymar henry etoo ect… to win but guess what you must deal with what you got ! CR7 manaed to win 2 major trophy in 3 years with guedes quaresma renato sanches ! argentina never been the problem ! the truth is that messi is ok when is a team around is good when barca system is around ! outside of it is a good player but thats it

  12. agree with the analysis of messi and the argentinian sqad. bunch of players who dont know what to do with the ball. when messi stays on the upper third of the field he receives no service and when he comes deep, he receives the ball and try to give good passes to the other forwards then they mess up the ball and loose possesion of the ball and the opposing team goes on the counter attack with the feeble argentinian defence

  13. I hate to say it, but I can’t help but feel like moving to Spain at such a young age really messed with Messi’s national identity. I feel like a lot of times he lacks the passion with Argentina, especially considering the passion he shows Barca.
