Argentina for ages has a definite style of play. They defend and counter-attack. From the 1978 world cup win that featured the legendary defender Daniel Passarella till now featuring Otamendi and Romero. They always fit deep and absorb pressure. This type of football has always come under close scrutiny. But, this gets the job done if handled diligently. The world cup wins in 78 and 86 are the proofs. But how this modern team of Argentina led by Lionel Scaloni will fight against high counter-attacking teams like France, Germany, and Portugal? What about the role of Leo Messi? What is their perfect line-up and can we expect them to change their style of play?
This Copa America is far from over and Argentina has made it into the quarter-finals this year. Can they go on to win it? Can Messi finally lift an International trophy and we shall put the conversation of the GOAT behind us once and for all?

Tbh I don't also like possessional football that much as there is chance that your opponent will set back and focusing on counter attack…for this set back your defensive line would be in higher on the pitch in which many of times you can not stop the counter attack perfectly(if pressing is good then scenario would be different but still not in every time)…and possessional football base team always need good technical players to break the compact line…and there also a issue of getting tired…although I'm not criticizing the possessional based football but it requires more than imagination…

  18. Chelsea did the same thing in UCL finals under Tuchel , and they got the trophy ! Ramos and Madrid have done it many times and won UCL . If ARG does that and wins the trophy ! Yes all of us will be happy ! And the end of the day , if you have a trophy , it's all good !

I have been following and supporting argentina since 1998 wc and their main wkns is their defence..I dont know how u have come to this conclusion but yes since 2014 wc they have been winning with narrow margin..but i would urge u to watch argentina matches again prior to 2014 wc..they used to play beautiful football because that time we had more strong defence like zanetti samuel Ayala heinze sorin midfielder like riquelme..

  26. An Obvious Problem in the current Argentine team is Creativity in the midfield. Messi Has to drop back Many times which isn't positive. A proper Workhorse Cam Might be perfect for them. Was Not Calling Dybala A mistake??

  27. Argentina Is Slowly Improving. In 2019, The whole team was shit. This tournament. Slight improvement in Midfield and Defence has improved a lot. But again attacking issues.

  35. Maximum World Cup winners won via defensive approach. Be it 2006 Italy, be it 2018 France etc. Why not us. Even France is playing in that style even with such quality players after world cup

  36. 2010 mai sare attacking player ko khila diye( messi, di maria, higu, tevez)isliye har gaye bhai. France bhi aisa hi world cup jite. Sayad copa jai lekin 22 wc keliye ek strong team taiyar ho raha hai
