It's a stupid question, no one can know. The only thing that massively disrupted the French team is the fact that Deschamps had to reorganize its team and put players who didn't play many games together on the field as starters. Plus, physically it is a huge blow to the starters when you lose Kanté, L. Hernandez, etc. Ale is right saying the "right team" won the competition in a sense that they were the best prepared, the most focused, and showed throughout the tournament that the little part of chance a future winner needs was always on their side.

Its hard to say. Would France have even made it to the finals if Giroud didn't play? Would Benzema have made a big difference? Who knows. The coach made a decision base on his knowledge.

Giroud has been replaced at 40min because the coach saw his ineffectivness, certainly with Karim the match would have been totaly different. I think during difficult match, you need the most tallented player to make the différence.

f.cuk the french national team , some big players according to media sources ( lyoris and griezman ) never liked the return of benzema and made that clear to dechamps , the later have been pressured by the french president to get benzema back to the team otherwise he didn't want him back too even as a balon d'or , lots of politics and ego sensibilities in the french squad especially toward benzema immigrant background and his strong personality and of course his past issue with valbuena , the medical staff of the french national team gave a false diagnosis of benzema's injury which was contradicted by the real madrid medical staff , he never got serieously injured and was back to playing at the knock out stages , but dechamps used the oportunity to get rid of him and he was even sent home in a late flight without having the chance to say goodbye to other players (except for thuram) , benzema was evicted cowardly from the french national team by dechamps lyoris and griezman for ego/personal and political reasons (his north african background) , but they eventualy paid the price in the final against argentina and I am very pleased for that , but hey juls will never talk about these issues because it will uncover lots of racist underlyings in french media ,football institutions and french society , you need just to read the comments of many french fans about the picture of the french squad waiting for their medals , they said it was very black and not many white french players ..

I believe if France had all its starters, yep, would have beat Argentina. But all moot.
I don't know. And I say that as a France fan. There were areas much weaker than up top and if he isn't 100%, it is difficult to say. He is for me more clinical than Muani. His experience would have helped. But in the end the reality is we were down 2 goals at the half and in the entire tournament clearly missed Hernandez, Kante and Kimpembi. And Giroud had a good tournament so difficult to put it all on him. So give credit to Argentina they beat the best in front of them and deserved to win.
