  1. eliminate messi and add ronaldo to that argentina team of the 2014 worldcup.i guarantee you Ronaldo would be a worldcup champion.stop trying to make excuses for the guy who is supposedly the greatest of all time.

  2. If they win against Qatar they are guaranteed to go through (even if they stay in 3rd place, since they'll have a higher goal difference than Peru). If they don't, then they are definitely out as Qatar has better goal difference than them, which would keep them in 4th place even with a draw.
Qatar plays kinda european which is actually a style this Argentina, as deppressing as it is, isn't too badly matched-up against. They lost against France in the WC but held up quite nicely for a while, since Qatar isn't as strong I thinkArgentina will still be the favorites going into this match.

I'd give this Argentina 55% chance of winning the match and therefore, going through. I might talk a lot of shit about Messi but it isn't like he can't have his magical days with Argentina, they just don't happen as often.

  3. 9-1 now with the bookies. Drew with Iceland in WC. Walloped by Croatia and France. Very flukey to beat Nigeria. Dreadful in first 2 games Copa. Possibly Worse than the Man U team end of season and with Messi!!!? Barca also displaying extremely poor stuff in Europe. I think Messi is done or nearly done. CR7 the fine wine of the pair NO DOUBT.

  4. Look at the goal of Paraguay. Defenders gets beat tracks back but he thought Paraguay player would lose the ball so he doesn’t put a foot out to block the cross. It’s just lazy defending. Argentina sometimes has the ball 60% of the time other team just defends but other team has better chances because Argentina defense is very weak.

  5. Utter incompetence on the part of the manager. Of course other factors are at play but if you look at the tactical analysis of Argentina it is baffling.

  6. Messi is a tremendous player but why pundits keep protecting him by saying that the squad is always poor and not playing for him? If he's the best it should be the opposite, right? Look at CR7, he's always playing tremendously wherever he goes starting with Sporting Lisbon, Man UTD, Real Madrid, Juventus and his poor national team, are they going to say that these teams are always great and playing for him every time, of course not. And for me this is what makes a great player and that's it!

  7. I never understood the issues with the Argentina team and always thought they had great players…
Then I watched them play and it was Messi vs the opposition all by himself.
Truly awful team who cant play together.

  8. I hope Messi get tired of this Argentina team,as much i want to see Messi held trophy with this team it seems impossible just impossible,i really want to see This team played without messi hows that turned out

  9. The AFA needs to be dissolved or cleansed through & through. Going ahead with a complete joke of a coach like Scaloni for the 2nd most important international trophy for Argentina just smacks of laziness and mismanagement. How can the AFA not have funds to attract the best Argentinean coaches to coach the most passionate footballing nation with world class talents? This assemblance of bunch of average players and asked to play without any structure whatsoever, makes this the worst Argentina team of the last 40 odd years.

  10. They made fun of tata martino, look at them now. They reached the finals of copa America and World Cup with that medium team and then now look at them can’t even reach out the group. Disgraceful. Messi with his head down not even motivating the team as Captian.

  11. Shouldn't Argentina play a 4-5-1 with Messi as No.10, Aguero as No.9, with Angel Di Maria and Dybala or Pereya on the flanks and crucially they would have two defensive midfielders to offer protection to their defence ?
