Will Argentina's Lionel Messi be punished for calling the referees corrupt? | Copa America

ESPN FC’s Shaka Hislop, Steve Nicol and Alejandro Moreno share their thoughts on Lionel Messi’s comments after he received a red card in Argentina’s 2-1 win over Chile in the Copa America third-place match. Moreno calls Messi’s comments «irresponsible,» but admits that the Barcelona star’s strong tone could endear him even more to Argentina’s fans. Nicol shows his support for the Argentina captain by saying, «sometimes you have to get how you’re feeling off your chest even when you know you’ll be fined.»

  1. Literally the refs use VAR for no reason. Brazil vs Argentina games happen. The game that VAR is needed, the refs doesn’t bother using it. Honestly this Copa America was corrupted

  2. Lol an Argentine, complained about the reff? oh the irony. Didn't hear him complain about it when it's convenient for him. But yeah Brazil reff was corruption

  3. Part of me kinda agree with Messi, let's look at Copa America in 2015 and 2016, I do believe Messi could win his first trophy with NT but something tell me that there's someone who not let that happen, Chile went to final back to back with obvious dirty tactics from group phase until Semifinal include how ref should punish the Chilean who grab Cavani crotch not send out Cavani. It's like curse for Messi.

  4. Messi, you shoul accept that mistakes happen, in the remontada against PSG the ref looked like a barca 9 year old fanboy, giving pens left and right, but you didn't say anything about corruption, bc ofc it was in your favour

  5. This tournament was prepare for Brazil to win check the game of Uruguay vs Peru how those 3 goals weren’t allow by Uruguay var was constitutionally calling for the referee was it so for Uruguay to lose in penalty against Peru so Brazil could face Peru or Chile in the final and their were two fouls against Brazil yet var or the referee completely ignore it and also notice how Brazil keeping winning in home soil 2013,2015 and now 2019 when they lost against Germany are they really this good before Brazil face Germany it was Colombia and before Germany face Brazil it was France and yet no one says anything corruption at it finest

  6. Messi has the right to speak his mind. These sports analyst always like to be politically correct and whenever any player in general speaks their mind they seem to get offended they always want to box players.

  7. Stupid referee who gave Messi a red card. Completely undeserved. Medel mightve been the captain so he thot great, let's give em both a red card to get some discipline back in the game. But that move handicapped Argentina more than Brazil

  8. I don’t think any Barca player especially any Barca player from the 2009 champions league game vs Chelsea should ever in his life be allowed to call referees corrupt, when drogba and ballack spoke up they got crazy fines and match bans…
