Messi has been the best player in history for years now, he didn't need an international title with Argentina to prove it but it is nice he finally got one to shut up the haters and naysayers who say otherwise. This is a team sport so it is unfair to blame past failures solely on him, on the contrary he was always the best player in all the previous competitions his country lost.

    Ironically this was one of Messi's worst individual performances in a game with his standards, especially the 2 chances he literally flopped in front of goal but you can understand the mental strain and weight of a whole nation and the past failures on him. This still did not stop him from still being the best player of the tournament and top scorer and assister. A well deserved long awaited win. Vamos Argentina. Vamos Messi!
