1. However, Maradona doesn't have the numbers that Messi has, nowhere near.
2. Maradona played in an era where football was tactically weak and individuals with quality had high influence. Today you could have the team with the best individuals and yet lose. Messi, even Ronaldo have managed to dominate against every possible tactic and multiple teams
3. Messi's peak has lasted a lot longer. It's not a joke scoring 40-50 goals a season for a decade straight while also being among the top 2 playmakers every season.
4. Messi's Argentina have been of a much lower quality compared to Maradona's Argentina. This team wouldn't even qualify for World cup without Messi.
5. Everyone brings Napoli in the equation when describing Maradona's quality. Barcelona post 2015 have been a disaster and Messi was carrying it on his back. Look what's happened after he left. Back to back Europe leagues.

God the one who used to get compared with Messi this season was on bench for club and his own country.Did I mention they did great without him compared to Messi who made an impact and we felt his presence in almost every match.

One performance doesn't define a career. Messis career speaks for itself. Two finals with arg in 8 years. He's carrying the team this year and showcasing his entire skill set. Hes the greatest of this generation. Full stop. No messi fan is offended if you think maradona is the goat, he has a similar profile of skills.

If u look at what Messi and Ronaldo have done from the age of 30 to age of 35(37) u will realise who the goat is. Messi gets ronaldo numbers in goals but worldies as well as crazy assists with even crazier vision. Then you look at the games where Messi and Ronaldo get for example couple goals in a game , Messi's performance will be a 10 out 10 where he dictates everything on the pitch and ronaldos would be a 7 or 8 out of 10 where he popped out scored a goal or got a pen. I feel that's a major thing people forget when talking about there numbers. And finally ronaldos had a stinker in Qatar and his attitude over last 6 months stinks even more. Messi pure class on and off the pitch.
