  5. Degrading the 1st goal a lot. Just cause we are used to this doesnt mean its easy. I bet no one else in the world cup would’ve scored from that position with the same motion, same lack of space, only one touch, & at the percision of the shot with not too much pace on the ball.

  6. These guys are criticizing Mexico defense as if they practically gave Messi the ball to score! In truth, every goal in football can be broken down to a mistake. It was a brilliant goal, simple.

  15. To say knowing what Messi is doing reflects that the defense was poor is such a hilariously poor argument. He has over 1130 goal contributions, being the greatest means being able to beat everyone else on any pitch.

  18. Most if not all the other teams have played and started with they best 11. ARGENTINA has rotated it team. BRAZIL, FRANCE, SPAIN, BELGIUM, ENGLAND, etc… have started with a nucleus of players. These last qualifying games are going to be interesting.

  19. What these pundits have not notice, is that the matches are coming fast and they are very intensive. Argentina's man management has deceived these guys. Coreas, Almada and Dabala have not played yet. ARG defensive back 5 have been rotated. Only Mess, DE Paul, Di Maria and Otemendi have played every game. Paredes and Papa Gomez have also been rested. They will be some tried Poland legs on Wednesday. Let's see how it plays out.

    That Messi goal was very good btw. Sure, it wasn't a very powerful shot, but the accuracy was pinpoint.
    Poland v Argentina should be a great match. I hope Scaloni has figured out who is in form and who isn't.

  24. Thanks you Juls!!!! I hope u talk more about his Martino guy that has been bad for Mexico as much as u used to talk about the other coach who shall not be named that managed Barcelona. We have needed Martino out for years and the Mexican national team president for supporting him eventhough Martino was making extremely poor decisions. Its all about profits for them as u see the fans still show up even if their team is terrible.

  25. I usually prefer Gab and Juls over the other pundits here, but jeeeeeeez! These guys are out of their minds if they think that Messi's goal wasn't special. Yes, Herrera could've done better to guard Messi, but that's it. If you watch a video with the aerial view of the goal, you'll notice that the margin for error was mere millimeters. A slight tip of the finger from Ochoa and the ball would've deflected off of the post.
    ESPN FC seriously needs to get new pundits because after this there aren't any decent pundits here.

  30. Yeah lewadowski scored first goal so cute. Meanwhile why Acunia is playing, Arg does not have talented player. These ppl awful. I mean 2018 WC, Arg barely qualify in WC by beating Ecuador. That team did not go down easily against that mighty French side. What do you expect from this side in this WC?

  32. losing after 36 games and losing the first game of the wc against saudi arabia ofcourse put the team under tremendous pressure. this is a very young team only messi otamendi and di maria are experienced. It is very difficult to perform under pressure and play your natural game.after the messi goal the body language of the whole argentina team changed they played very well not their 100% best but way better than they were playing earlier. Next match they will arrive more composed and in my view paredes enzo and de paul should start at the midfield. Enzo can carry the ball forward just like lo celso did. Argentina should arrive way more confident vs poland and they must win. Lautaro just needs one goal to boost up his confidence and de paul should be trusted and he will deliver at the rigjt time.

  33. Of course it isn't surprising that everyone knows Messi takes a shot from there.The surprising part is he still manages to score even if gap is the size of a ball itself.

  35. Argentina miss Nico and Lo Celso who are both bang average players. Imagine the midfield is so bad they can't string 5 passes in succession and forget about progressive passes.

  39. Just like in 2014 when Messi scored a late goal to send them through. Unfortunately he didn't do much after that. It's like he wants someone else to score all the goals while he can do all that and more. He has never really shown the same spirit for Argentina as he did for Barcelona except for one Game where he destroyed Brazil with a Hatrick

  40. I disagree with Gab and Juls on Messi's goal here. The fact that they say everyone knew what he was doing, does not mean that the defenders could have done any better. Messi literally got a pass needed one touch to put in in front of him and directly shot at goal. This is Messi after all, not an ordinary footballer it has happened many times that everyone knows what is doing or is about to do, but he at times is just unstoppable.

  43. Common….Argentina were under immense pressure. This game was never about playing well but rather ensuring the 3 points and surviving. Massive congrats to this beautiful team. May the victories continue.
