  1. If this was Cristiano Ronaldo winning his 8th Ballon d'Or would anyone complain.

Since it is Lionel Messi there will be talks doesn't matter though Lionel Messi will forger be known as a world cup winner

  2. Haaland may have won the treble and broke goal scoring records in the most competitive league in the world. However, Messi has had solid performances and ultimately won the FIFA World Cup. Remember when Fabio Cannavaro won the Ballon d’Or? He had solid performances and won the World Cup! If Messi performance numbers were low despite winning the World Cup he probably wouldn’t even win it, but the fact that he is still performing at the highest level despite his age is beyond incredible!

  3. Imagine if a kid in school got us used to always being top of the class with Straight A+ and all the other kids get B+, the moment that Kid gets an A or an A- we start crying and demanding that his title of top the class gets revoked despite the fact that he still achieved better scores than all the other kids.
That's the case with Lionel Messi, the guy got us used to "Exceptionalism" that the moment his level drops down to "Greatness" like the rest of the greats while still being greatest amongst them, we start crying for the Ballon D'Or results.

  4. Ballon d’or is NOT for top scorers! Now, if the best player happens to score the most goals then fine(just like Messi and Ronaldo have been doing for a decade). And I’m sure Messi and Ronaldo are the reasons why goals are important in winning the Ballon d’or these days. Cos if u check the winners before CR7 and Messi, they weren’t particularly top goal scorers, just exceptional players during that season.

  5. … media voting and we know that make's the ballon d'or a "reallity tv popularity show"
    halland 100%
in 2010 messi won it before a spanish…
let's see if thoses arguments still stand ?

  6. If Messi is winning it for winning the world cup, Coupe de France and Ligue 1 with 43 goal contributions despite Haaland also having three major trophies and more goals. It means Alvarez should win it for having 3 major trophies a world cup and less goal contributions than Messi. This award is ruining football.
